Health and schooling, one village at a time
Three programmes, run with volunteers and kept deliberately simple.
Eye care
2,027 people screened
Free screening camps for schoolchildren and adults, spectacles fitted on the spot, and cataract surgery with lens implants for those who need it.
Camps are held in schools and village halls with volunteer optometrists. Children are screened for refractive error and referred on where something more serious is found.
Spectacles are made and given free of cost. Where a cataract is blocking sight, we fund the surgery and the intraocular lens.
Computers for schools
100 computers placed
Refurbished and new computers placed in rural Indian schools, so children learn on machines rather than only hearing about them.
Rural schools often teach computing from a textbook because there is no machine in the building. We place working computers in those classrooms and leave them with the school.
Medical relief
170 ventilators sent
During the pandemic we moved ventilators, masks, face shields and wipes to hospitals in India and to frontline workers closer to home.
During the Delta wave we sourced and shipped ventilators, oximeters, KN95 masks, face shields and disinfectant wipes to hospitals in India and to frontline workers in the United States.
